Essential Eight with World Centric’s Creative Director Samantha Smith

Samantha Smith hiking the Trans-Catalina trailSamantha Smith is the Creative Director at World Centric, a manufacturer of compostable products for the food service industry.

From an early age, Samantha Smith dedicated herself to sustainable practices, living simply, and giving back to make the world a better place. Having had a sustainability mindset from early on, Sam was happy to find a company like World Centric that shared her values.

Sam currently lives in Napa with her husband Mike and Yorkshire Terrier Coco with occasional drop-ins from her two sons in their 20s.

To get to know Samantha more, here are her essential eight items:

An essential movie to see

Civil War—it was a very disturbing and thought-provoking movie.

An essential Instagram account to follow

World Centric, of course! Our social media maven Sydney does a great job keeping it fun, fresh and colorful!

An essential activity to try

Pickleball.

An essential home item

A garden.

An essential cause in your life

I am a recycling nerd and recently started helping the Napa Teachers Association with foil recycling. They pick up wine capsules from wineries around Napa and we sort out the recyclable parts. The non-profit made over $15K doing it last year!

An essential destination to visit

I just got back from New Orleans and I would highly recommend it. The people are friendly, there’s always something fun going on, and the food is amazing.

An essential bucket list item to check off

My husband and I backpacked the Trans-Catalina Trail on Catalina Island a few years ago. I felt very accomplished after 3 days and over 30 miles!

An essential recipe to try

Red Lentil Indian Dahl! There’s something about this dish—it’s so flavorful and satisfying. I love it!
